The Artist, Ed Hatch

Working from his studio in the community of Burrowsville, Prince George

County, Ed is a prominent portrait and landscape artist. He is widely recognized

for hi unique ability to capture a special feeling and awareness of the subjects that

he paints. Through direct experience and observation of his environment, a

methodology known as "plein-aire", the artist translates that experience to the

canvas with precision and subtlety. He is renowned for his combination of detail and

diffused light. The artist has been the recipient of many awards and honors, including the

Heritage Award presented by the Governor of Virginia. He is widely known for his

Virginia landscapes and in constant demand as a portrait artist. His work hangs

in some of the finest art collections, public and private.
