Welcome to The Prince George County Regional Heritage Center

A Project of the Prince George County Historical Society, Inc.

The Heritage Center is the single project of the Prince George County Historical Society, Inc. Opening day on November 8, 2008 was the culmination of several years of planning, fundraising, and volunteer effort. The Center’s state-of-the-art exhibits tell the fascinating story of a County that, when founded, stretched to the North Carolina border and to the Blue Ridge. Now the repository for many treasures from a rich and vast history the Center’s presentations are unique and inviting exhibits. Discovery questions along the way enhance the Center’s open and welcoming environment. Volunteer guides are available to assist in any way. The Center is open daily: weekdays 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m.; 1:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. on weekends; closed major holidays. There is no admission fee. For group tours please call ahead.

The Center hosts quarterly programs on the third Tuesday evening of February, April, September, and November. Unless otherwise announced, all meetings are held at the Center, second floor.

The Prince George County Cemetery Inventory Project

The Heritage Center has launched its program to inventory County cemeteries.  Information is being recorded and pictures being taken so that family names and dates can be made generally accessible.  Volunteers are needed to assist with this very large project, both in the field as well as in the office.  Anyone knowing of burial places that should be included is asked to contact our office.
Note: Information about location will not be disclosed without owner permission.

Field work has been completed for the first year of this project. It will resume in January of 2012. A special program will be presented at the Center in November, 2011 on the first year's work and the results it produced (date to be announced).
